Funding Awards
Types of Funds Awarded
EE offers three different types of awards to the full-time program: Fellowships, Course Assistantships (similar to Teaching Assistantships) and Research Assistantships. Each award comes with a quarterly stipend and tuition allowance. The details will vary and be specified in the award letter.
Course and Research Assistantships require a service to the department in exchange for funding; fellowships do not.
All awards are subject to satisfactory degree progress and execution of responsibilities.
How to Apply for Funding
Making the appropriate selections in the application will assure consideration for departmental funding. No additional paperwork is necessary. If the funding question is not answered, you will not be considered.
Notification of Awards
There is no fixed date for determining all financial aid decisions as timing depends on availability of funds. Some aid is offered in March, and most aid decisions are made by 15 April. In other cases funds do not become available until September.
The Admissions Office will immediately make offers when funds become available. All decisions will be communicated via email.
Loans and Other Financial Information
Because not all entering EE
students secure funding as they begin graduate studies at Stanford,
prospective students are encouraged to apply for outside sources of
funding. Stanford has a Financial Aid Office that
helps with loan
programs and other avenues for financing Graduate Study.
